The Centre for Educational Technology can now be considered firmly established in the University. Vula, the environment hosted by CET, is entrenched in UCT courses and increasingly being used to support research activities. The Masters in Education (ICTs) Programme co-hosted with the School of Education now has two additional modules on learning design and developing contexts, and has attracted a growing number of students. It is being extended to students from all over Africa thanks to a generous bursary scheme provided by the Andrew Mellon Foundation. Together with the Research Office CET hosts the Scholarly Communication in Africa Programme which is a three-year, IDRC-funded initiative aimed at increasing African universities contribution to regional and global knowledge production. CETs work continues to be cross fertilised by its foci on resources, technologies, development and service all inter-twined with research activities.
